Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your data when you use the gold calculator, the gold price per gram table, or the gold purity chart on this site. The short version: your weight, karat and price inputs never leave your browser, and the only outbound network request any tool makes is a fetch of the current gold spot price from a third-party price feed, which does not receive any of your input.

What the calculators do, and don't, send anywhere

Every calculation on this site, converting a weight, applying a karat purity, working out a dollar value, runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. None of it is sent to our servers, because there is no server-side processing involved in producing a result. If you close the tab, nothing you entered is retained anywhere except the one thing described in the next section.

Local storage: your last entry, saved in your own browser

The gold calculator page saves your most recent weight, unit and karat selection to your browser's localStorage, a standard browser feature that keeps small pieces of data on your own device between visits, so the fields are pre-filled the next time you open the page. This data stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and you can clear it at any time using the Reset button on the calculator, or by clearing your browser's site data through your browser's own settings.

The one external request: live gold price

To show a current gold price, the calculator and the price-per-gram page make a request to api.gold-api.com, a third-party price feed, when the page loads. This request asks only for the current gold spot price. It does not send your weight, karat selection, or any other input you've typed, there is nothing in that request for the price feed to receive from your session besides the fact that a price was requested. If that request fails, for a network issue or any other reason, the affected tool shows a message asking you to enter a price manually rather than silently displaying a stale or incorrect figure.

Analytics

If enabled, this site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not track individual visitors across sites. It reports aggregate information like page views and approximate visit counts, it does not build an individual profile of you, and it does not share or sell data to advertisers. We would use it only to understand which pages are useful and whether the site is working correctly, not to identify or target individual visitors. If analytics is not actively configured for this domain at the time you are reading this, the corresponding script simply does not load at all, and no visit data is collected by us in any form.

Cookies

This site does not set marketing or tracking cookies. Any cookie-like storage that exists is limited to the localStorage feature described above (which is not technically a cookie, and is not sent to any server on every request the way a cookie is), and your own browser's theme preference (light or dark mode), which is also stored locally and never transmitted anywhere.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, the infrastructure this site runs on (Cloudflare) keeps standard technical logs of requests, things like IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp, for security and reliability purposes such as detecting abuse or diagnosing outages. These are operational logs at the infrastructure level, not a profile built about you, they are not used for advertising, not sold, and not cross-referenced with anything you enter into a calculator.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-purpose reference and calculator tool not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, since none of the calculators require you to submit personal information in the first place. There is no account system, no form that asks for a name or email, and no mechanism by which we could identify a visitor's age even if we wanted to.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes meaningfully, for example if an advertising network is added, this page will be updated to reflect that before the change takes effect, not after. Because this policy is a static page rather than something requiring an account or subscription, there's no notification list to sign up for, checking back here is the way to see the current version.

The feedback widget

If you use the thumbs up or thumbs down feedback control on a tool page, that sends an anonymous signal (which tool, and whether the feedback was positive or negative) to help us understand which tools are working well. It does not include your calculator inputs, your IP address is not linked to the feedback in any way we can access, and there is no way for us to trace a specific piece of feedback back to a specific visitor.

Third parties and advertising

This site may show advertising in the future through a standard ad network. If and when that happens, the ad network's own privacy policy will govern any data it collects, we will update this page to name the network and explain what that means for you before any ads go live, not after. As of the version of this page you're reading now, no advertising network is active on this site.

Contact

If you have a question about this policy or how this site handles data, you can reach us using the contact address linked in the footer of every page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to create an account to use the calculators?
No. Every tool on this site works immediately with no sign-up, no account and no login required.
Is my weight or karat selection stored on a server?
No. That data stays in your browser's local storage on your own device, described in the section above, and is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party.
Does the live price request know what I entered into the calculator?
No. The price request only asks for the current gold spot price, it does not include any of your calculator inputs.
Can I use these tools with JavaScript disabled?
No. Since every calculation runs in your browser, JavaScript needs to be enabled for the calculators to work. The rest of the site's content (the explanatory text, tables and FAQ) is readable without it.
